Darwin is, along with Einstein, one of the cornerstones of our illusory hall of mirrors (number, algorithm, AI or sun). A mirror has to be at once ultra-convincing and "factual" and, at the same time, illusory.
Realistic faux is nothing new in itself since this could be the story of the Renaissance art, from Raphael onwards. This is presumably what the Pre-Raphaelites were aware of, in terms of the psychic dimension and medieval relics like Prester John (see prev.)
But, how can we turn back to a time when news is hearsay and the town cryer is the standard-bearer for truth? That's for sure but, equally, why should one travel through a hall.of mirrors shining the reflections of false prophets?
All one can say is that there are voices like Kantner of JS and Poly Styrene who are clearly thinking in terms of psychic strength, the feminine and erotic (in nature) and physical romance. Are these things necessarily as dead as the Dodo?
This is what "they" would have use believe. First of all, if you believe something to be so it is often because the words appear to make sense. As was noted in P159, DNA is a type of linguistic trap because information is tied to sameness.
In the physical (real) world, the metamorphosis of line is tied to sameness. Where there is sameness there has also to be difference in the type of species, and types of people.
As Radin has noted (see prev) the introspective neurosis of the shaman is totally different to the everyday man, or man and woman of action.
Differences in nature tend to be allied to sameness, but there is no such thing as sameness without difference.
DNA is what's called neo-Darwinism, and is the principle plank of the scientific worldview of nature. So, what I'm meaning to suggest is that terms like genotype and phenotype are totally illusory linguistic structures.
DNA is pure information, and the only thing it can definitely be said to be is ultra-convincing. There is no link between genotype and phenotype (shape), but the sheer conviction of the presence of DNA makes the linguistic connection appear true.
That's what I mean by a convincing illusion. We live in that type of world (Kafkaesque) and politicians are highly convincing and superb liars. In a universe of information and words the two are bound to go together.
I said DNA has a structure (dual or two-tone) and it is known in terms of angle of bonds and so on. Basically, that means it has a geometry. Geometry is also very convincing and part of the same universe of "fact".
The things that are missing are to do with time and shape - what things are physically. In other words, we inhabit a universe of the head as opposed to the proportionate, active body.
Differences, of species or of people, have similarities or symmetries in terms of line. A line is movement in time.
Riding a horse, say, the lines of one's body are tied to the brute. The clench of the knees on the barrel midrif, the flick of the reins, the wrench of the stirrups.
Why is Man so close to horses? Because, in an active world, different things contain similarities of line (CL Moore, Black God's Kiss). None of this has anything to do with DNA, which is information. It has to do with action and behaviour. The shape of things is closely allied to their behaviour (psyche).
Horses are smelly and fairly filthy. When one works with them.one cleans out the stables and so forth. In a traditional society one lives cleanly in a dirty milieu. The fields and fertility.
Modern advance is an experiment in tidiness, when untidiness is a sign that useful work is being done!
Those who adhere rigidly to the modern line are often linguists or politicians. They maintain a distance from the physical world of fertility.
The physical substance of the metamorphosis of line is the fecundity of nature. Zeus and the bull (The Rape of Europa, prev.)
By maintaining a distance from these powerful forces of nature (ontology), the sense of meaning (epistemology) is lost in the mist. Instead of decay and the restoration of ruins, one has the sterility of words that maintain a distance from the fertility and strength of nature.
Words and numbers attached to information are a mainstream fantasm. Shape and behaviour are reality, and this applies equally to the proteins that process our bodies and course through our bloodstream.
Blood and bone; the hunt and the chase; Diana of the moon; Dionysus on his donkey. The sad truth is that all these are extinguished by the false prophet of pure information. The one place where physical truth still holds true are the alternate worlds of heroic fantasy, be it X-Men or Howard's Hyboria.
