Hyborian Bridge 171

If, then, the physical rhythms of a spontaneous area are suppressed (by acolytes of the mirror of illusions), what is the end product?

If the anarchic vulgarity of physical-social situations is crushed, what do we get? We get half-truths, since this is where

ARE FRIENDS ELECTRIC (Numan)

is bound to lead.

In a universe of electrical appliances for a start we see the truth since, as Jean-Luc Godard has said, "Film is truth 27 times a second."

And we get illusion, since it's also true that "film is illusion 27 times a second."

Godard happens to be one of the greatest film directors of all.time and a born storyteller of renown. Meaning we get the images he imagines before committing them.to the screen.

So much for psychic truth and physical realism, but illusions do not necessarily need either.

Godard is a magician of the camera which is his truth, echoing his immersion in US myth and pulp; we get "their" truth which is a psychic vacuum of empty ego.

The half- truth is that our friends ARE electric, when they are actually physical and psychic as well. It's an inductive universe of reflections in light (Newton C4-C6). Induction itself is the mirror of illusions, in that the analysis of light enters a world of geometry and relativity.

This is the world we enter that has more and more duplicates. It's inevitable that that trend will continue with acolytes essentially in control. What is the result?

Blatantly, the expansion of word-count! The latest example of this is the pod-cast. R. Crumb, who gives the very odd interview, foresaw this deluge on the cover of

TCJ #121 1988

I, personally, refuse to watch any podcast no matter who appears. Word-count is bound to endlessly enlarge without a coherent storyline.

I, personally, am a great supporter of comic books since they cannot duplicate reality with the ease of a camera. They have to invent things. The artist has to study the body and get immersed in the rhythms of curvaceous line.

Apart from that, as Frank Miller has said, to get pace in  film you just point the camera at action; in a comic the pacing has to be created.

Duplication (by camera) is electrical reality and needs a master creator like Godard to generate physical and psychic realism (the documentary style echoed by the British in the 70s).

Without the creative truth the only thing it can generate is word-count. Man evolved in caves, it seems, and these are psychic vistas where the flames dance and impact physically on the brain. See The Northern Shaman, prev.

What are houses and temples but caves by another name? The Japanese still.keep domestic shrines in their abodes, primitive artefacts of psychic origin.

Electricity is fire without flame, and it's the flame which impacts on the brain. The eternal flame of Rome.

A flame symbolises psychic existence and in a sense the religious. The flames of belief in countries like Iran, India, Turkey support a strength of age-old symmetries that have the realism of storytelling.

A psychic universe is not logical and can be anarchic. No one relishes conflicting situations, but the flip side to that is Saudi Arabia's Neom City, a pure mirage of the desert.

Where there are psychic differences there will.be conflicting interests, but we in the west should recognize that a land without differences is not simply inert but an illusion.

It is this illusion that is the half- truth. Where the strength of organic squalor is relegated to fantasy. I mean, why is there squalor in these Hyborian settings we know and love? Because there is no imposition of order on situations where spontaneity and anarchy exist. That is, situations of physical and psychic strength. Despite what "they" may say, exposure to pathogens is good and strengthens or triggers immune reactions. The physical and the psyche are tricky to disentangle.

It's the difference between romantic Shanghai and modern Shanghai (see "Dead Pigs"). Or Babcock Ranch in America (prev.) Where there is romance there is strength and psychic anarchy. In modern America neither Biden nor Trump (nor Obama) have an anarchic bone in their body; their differences don't seem so great apart from.the purely monetary ones.

The illusion ties-into number (algorithms) or the dual-tone of ones and zeros. The dual-tone appears as endless reflections that exist much like the descriptions in Jirel Meets Magic (prev.) There appears much there, but it is a type of verbal illusion.

Without the flames of psychic strength and physical-social realism we enter the mirror of illusions where words and number are the products of pure ego. Examples are too numerous (and boring) to mention.

Pictorial 165

Spontaneity and anarchy are expressive qualities. The throat grows physically and allows the vulgarity of expression (psyche).

The physical is always the domain of the vulgar, and the throat is beyond subtle as an instrument of expression.

The half-truth we (or "they") seem to live takes away all.of that in the interests of tidiness. An inert, sterile order.

The quasi-scientific nature of the mainstream is seen in UK pop celeb Stacey Solomon's fridge (just google it). It's clear here that number and straight-lines are the only things visible.

The exact same trend is seen in the projected desert city of Neom (or in solid-state electronics, natch). It's essentially a type of nothingness that is also very convincing to the ego.

Whether it's Solomon or bin Salman, they are followers of the same mirror of illusions of acolytes of pure reason (didn't Kant kill that off?)

The insane man is not the man who has lost his reason. He is the man who has lost everything except his reason. (GK Chesterton)

We live in the world of the ego that suppresses natural spontaneity and expressive anarchy. It's really a world of half-truths that is somewhat up itself a la Solomon.

Truth is often found in physical situations. Modern pop is essentially descended from African rhythms and I guess the primitive-sounding call-and-response chants of Southern cotton pickers.

Life lived physically has got to be more primitive than our world of the mind (or AI). By the same token, it is both truer and alsp more amenable to development.

Whereas AI is a dead-end of straight-line tidiness, African rhythms have a physical strength that lends itself to sophistication. That seems to partly explain the reliance of pop on the African. As Carlos Santana said (P163), it is both sensual and spiritual.

It must be true to say that European folk music is also a physical style of playing, but at this point the African has become more dominant (I guess for the reasons Lloyd Price discussed previously).

This is easily seen in bands like The B52s (Love Shack), who are both highly sophisticated and clearly descended from group vocals of cotton pickers. Even I would say that the electro-synth of Gary Numan (Are Friends Electric) has a funky-sleaze that is more African than European.

From the sultry splendor of Minnie Riperton (prev) to the electro-dub sophistry of Lee 'scratch' Perry

EVIL BURMA (sinister track on the paranoid junta from 2009's Return to Planet Dub, feat Ari Up)

Numan married a 'super fan' who had followed his band, and Gemma is refreshingly bawdy. In an interview she described Numan's spell of poverty. "I had to give him a pity shag at one time," she recalled.

I like thst type of sordid, free and easy repartee. Grace Slick is another of that type. What these types do, whether you call them.hippies or nor, is express the physical side of things in relatively subtle and sophisticated ways.

Life lived physically inside the instrument of the body is relatively spontaneous and anarchic. Karen Gillan of Avengers fame expressed something similar in this quote.

I'd say to young women in their 20s, enjoy your body that you're in. You only get one. I feel.like in our 20s we're like 'Eugh' and now that I'm in my 30s I'm like, 'I looked great'

The body is beyond subtle, if yoy consider the throat allows us to swallow food, drink wine, cough, expel matter, sing, breath, save your life. That entire physical universe is spontaneous and anarchic and cannot possibly be under the control of routines as it exists in time.

Bruce Lee used similar arguments in his philosophy of Jeet Kune Do (see rehsongcycle.com currently in suspension).

We live in a world of routine that is highly convincing (to the ego), but it is full of half-truths spouted by scientist-automatons, the likes of Dawkins. Coming out of the scientific shell is to enter the body as a physical instrument of subtlety and action.

The truths of that universe have their sordid side (see Aristophanes comedies, prev). Without the full-on subtlety and action of the body in social-physical situations, all the truths we get are half-truths because there is essentially no spontaneity.

Gwyneth Paltrow gets stick but she is at least trying to be free and easy in a world that is all.head and no body (strength). Trying to be a hippy in a world of soulless artefacts of the scientific order of reason over pleasure. Spontaneity gives the lie to scientific convictions simply owing to the organic strength of physical squalor. In that old-time world - seen in Arabian souks or Howard's Hyboria - there is both dirt and cleanliness.

Exposure to pathogens is good and strong and cleansing. Bathing cleanses body and spirit. This is simply the age-old way of living in the subtlety and strength of the spontaneous body.

African rhythms have taken over possibly because they express something we have lost. The instrument of the body should not allow itself to be forever taken and held prisoner by the faulty instrument of the western mind (since Newton, prev.)

The mirror is a hypnotic illusion we need to break, almost like Conan does in 'The Black Hound of Vengeance' (HB20)

Pictorial 164

I recall citing a Dan Dare story many moons ago where Dan is watching a game of cricket. He realizes they've bowled seven balls in the over instead of six. "Careless umpiring", he frowns. Following a few other discomforts, it turns out that he's not on Earth atall and it is all an alien masquerade.

The moral is if one thing is wrong possibly everything is. In our universe of straight-lines, spontaneity and anarchy are suppressed by the  ego of acolytes (of the mirror of illusions).

This is a relatively anal and numerical area, as others have pointed out (see Grace Slick HB62/1). Jean-Luc Godard's 1964 film Weekend broadens this vista to include the whole of capital, in a pornographic swipe at the Freudian phallus (prev, Speaking About Godard, Silverman/Farocki).

Another way to put it is that in a universe of pure reason, the pleasure-principle becomes subject to pornographic manipulation and loses its freedom and zest.

At the heart of that argument is the fundamental principle that love (psyche) and sex (physique) are very closely associated. If they're not then there is a massive vacuum. This is possibly the vacuum at the heart of capital for the sake of pleasure (goods, services).

Man has culture, but in previous eras the culture has been an extension of nature. In nature, love is a fundamental principle in that birds and other creatures pair-off for purposes of breeding. The physique and the psyche - or instinct - are closely related.

If much of that is spontaneous and anarchic then it can't also be ordered and Darwinian. There are two different universes there.

What I mean is, if birdsong is spontaneous then it can't also be an ordered result of competition. Similarly, if the throat is a spontaneous growth, it can't also be the result of a competitive order.

Similarly for members such as arms and legs; they are spontaneously symmetrical via morphogenesis. What science seems to do is expand the role of data-collection till.it becomes all there is.

For example. DNA codes for mucus glands in the throat. However, it doesn't code for the throat itself, since that is just the shape the mucus is contained in. Both are necessary, not just one. A half-truth is still s lie.

Since DNA can be allied to algorithms (numbers, ones and zeros), this whole universe is relatively anal and suppressive. The suppressive universe can easily be linked to Apollo (sun); but Apollo without Dionysus is the false Apollo (Euripides, The Bacchae, prev.)

If it's true to say we live in a false order, then the pleasure-principle is corrupted (by the profane serpent, see prev on 'clean meat' etc.)

Pleasure has to be part of the fertile universe where there exist dirt and decay, revival and regrowth, ruins and restoration. Pleasure has to be free and easy and not "driven" by reason.

I previously quoted Liza Minnelli on her concert at the NY Lyceum. They decamped to the building opposite, which turned out to be a high class brothel. 'This is life, I love it!' she shrieked.

Squalor is an organic quality that has a type of strength to it (nowadays there is a mania for "tidying", vis zones of inert apathy and coffee-binging). The same probably applied to ancient Roman cities (or more so).

The false Apollo tends to suppress charm and wit and bawdy good humour; the serpent of spontaneity that weaves between reason and pleasure in an endless pirouette (the Pacific island principle).

Call.it anarchy. The zigzag serpentine motion of spontaneous action in the universe. Feeding and fertility.

If modern Man has lost contact with that primal essence, it's clear that unity can only exist as a type of nothingness, without any unifying principle.

When Carlos Santana was speaking of "unity" (P163), it seems that what he probably meant was that primal essence as a unifying principle.

I don't want to put words in his mouth, but it gets tiresome to hear hippies speak about unity when they are so clearly sensual and anarchic by nature.

In that universe there is fertility and strength. With them.comes the power of love and communal attachment (to the soil, seed, trees).

Without such strength and robust love (the rustic and anarchic kind), talk of unity is so much hot air. With love there is also the possibility of war and defence of territory.

Well, that's history. Henry Ford said, 'History is bunk.' He's now history, July 3 1863 - April 7 1947.

Pictorial 163

Is science an expt in tidiness? was the question posed awhile back. The assumption is yes - via induction (Newton C4-C6) - but it is a universe that attracts the ego of acolytes via data-collection and analysis.

Science isn't so much wrong as existing in a false field (the mirror of illusions or electromagnetism) where straight lines supplant organic vistas.

Clearly, the fact that cars can be driven or self-driven) and aircraft fly and fans cool the body (via evaporation) and on and on are facts of nature that science has determined.

It's accurate, but I'm taking about induction which creates a false version of reality. All those appliances mentioned could be driven by AI (ie electromagnetism like NASA'S Ingenuity helicopter of Mars) and then you are in a universe if straight lines (ones and zeros).

The end product of that is Neom City, the proposed desert metropolis with flying cars (prev.) It's totally true, but only in terms of straight lines. The universe as a whole is balanced and with the mystical symmetry of the Zodiac (originating in Babylon, see Kari Hohn).

Wirh symmetry comes the intrinsic nature of fertility; the fact that living things are cyclical. With fertility comes the nature if dirt and decay.

Decay is intrinsically fertile, as was noted of the clean-smellinf compost heap of a garden or organic farm. The organic humus of the soil is the natural.killer of pathogens.

The cyclical system -of the organic universe - and the straight-line system do not exactly get on! Not content with their accurate physics, the ego of acolytes adopts an anal region because of the infatuation with numbers (see Grace Slick quote HB62/1).

Spontaneity and anarchy are suppressed because they are assumed to lead to squalid situations. But it is precisely squalor and the presence of dirt and decay within organic areas that enable a cyclical system to operate (see example of Pompeii P162).

A ghetto is vastly more activating interest than a shopping mall for that reason. Ancient Roman cities with the plebs and gentry were possibly far more ghettoised than we may think.

All this information is contained in science, it's just that there is a very selective appraisal of the data by acolytes  like Dawkins(neo-Darwinism).

DNA can be analyzed by such methods, but proteins are vastly more difficult. They spontaneously fold in an example of symmetries in nature. They are the body's messengers.

Where spontaneity is involved, so is the metamorphosis of line. On a vastly greater scale, this is how morphogenesis occurs in the womb.

The best science can do is predict protein folding with super-advanced algorithms, but this leads to the trap that an algorithm is pure number (ones and zeros).

Science exists in a trap of numbers within a mirror of straight lines (originally Newton's knives or 'Optiks', prev.)

I'm talking about very basic features of reality. If you cross your legs there is a sense of fitness in the way one reclines on the other. This can only be the result of spontaneous symmetry.

If the universe we see and experience is spontaneous and anarchic in nature (see UVS website), that also means it's nor straight-line (number or algorithm). This is the active universe where fertility is the fundamental component.

A spiral is a fertility symbol as ancient as Newgrange in Ireland. I'm not saying new things; these are ancient truths scholars such as Kari John know far more than I.

The fact that science is so accurate - via induction - seems to fool the ego into entering the mirror of illusions (light, electromagnetism).

Outside of the mirror are the archetypàl processes actuated by Diana, huntress of the moon, the blood of the forest chase, the feminine principle of fertility.

With physical fertility also comes the psyche (spirit). The two are interwoven. Carlos Santana in an interview makes a similar quote, speaking of the early 60s.

'Santana's music is very spiritual and sensual.. The first thing we noticed is that the women move differently.'

What I realized, though, reading the interview was that he uses the same terms as do Kantner and other hippies on the ideal if 'unity' in a world shorn of barriers.

This is such a fundamental misconception of nature, where differences are paramount and also achieve similarity and affinity, that I think it's worthy of a fuller exegesis (next).

Pictorial 162

If, in fact, balance and symmetry are spontaneous formulations of the universe - see UVS website prev. - then they are also outside a universe of data-collection, vis lenses (HB170).

The world of science is obsessed by straight lines (light) since it's the only way of gathering information that is appealing to the ego of acolytes (of sorcerers of the mirror of illusions).

Darwin, as has been mentioned, has metamorphosed into neo-Darwinism or DNA, for that reason. The spokespeople of this system - such as David Atten-bore and his mini-acolyte Thunberg - are for sure not spokespeople for the underworld of mythical renown.

They are spokespeople for the apparent order of the natural world in terms of the evolution of DNA via competition between species. Competition is basically a mechanism that is easy to apply to the data on DNA.

When Atten-bore speaks of nature, he is meaning an order much like the scientific order (and ditto Thunberg, natch.)

This misses out the entire fertile area of living things which die and sink to the sea bottom or are eaten by worms. The underworld is every bit as powerful as the living one, and is the reason why earth and sea and air are fertile areas.

Of course, it's called the carbon-cycle, but it doesn't come into evolutionary theory. Unfortunately, without the carbon-cycle there could be no life of any kind. Fertility is far more fundamental than evolution.

Dealing in cyclical areas always implies balance and symmetry. Again, these principles are vastly more relevant than evolution.

By evolution, what scientists implicitly mean is robot-evolution; a sterile concept that is related to data-collection and induction (see C4-6 Newton). This is the world we inhabit, but it is the polar opposite to the natural order.

The natural order is the mythical chase of Diana of the moon, the fertile order of hunter and prey and activity in the night, blood in the forest.

A fertile order is intrinsically symmetrical, and this is the one component that is fundamental. Fertility and dirt and decay are linked concepts. In ancient societies baths are highly ritual events for ridding the body of stench and dirt that are associated with decay.

Valeria in Gods of the Mountain, SS #212, art Rafael Kayanan

In the Conan story, foul-smelling fungus is at the root of the problem. They traverse caverns which are a type of underworld; Clair Noto utilizes such dodgy vistas in Red Sonja (see prev.)

The underworld in the ancient world and in fantasy is the strong and visceral and slightly decaying area that heroes can traverse.

In terms of societies, these natural cycles imply a type of untidiness that lets flowers grow over wasteland, and in a way uses wasteland as raw building material (see example of Pompeii where waste was piled against a wall then filled-in).

The concept of waste building depends on one's sensitivity to smell. Conan was more hardy than Valeria, in the story, and took-in a mouthful of the fungi for sustenance.

The decay of waste products is a strong and fertile area indispensable for organic gardens and farms in the form of compost. Strength is a sign of cleanliness in that compost is a clean product of waste products via the process of decay.

These cyclical areas are essentially healthy and invigorating. A body exposed to pathogens and to the process of decay is stronger and healthier.

Our modern societies are run by information when, in fact, a type of anarchy is far more robust and strong.

Going back to Lloyd Price's memoir (P161), this natural anarchic strength comes out in the overtly sexual dance that he describes in the 'Jooks'.

Now, why I'm making it a colored.. connotation here is because, if you remember, Roy Brown had recorded the song There's Good Rockin' Tonight. That was just about three or four years back..

Now, I told you about The Belly Movement. It was simply when your woman rolled her stomach against yours. Everybody knew that movement. I also told you about Billy Ekstine's Jelly Roll. Do you think it's just a coincidence where the term rock 'n roll came from?

..Bill Haley became an overnight sensation by using the same rhythm as Roy Brown, the Liggins Brothers, Gatemouth Brown, T-Bone Walker and others. And guess what? It wasn't called "race music".. (page 35)

Well, I've seen such things in discos. It's the way nature works, friends. Anarchy relates to the natural processes of the body that cannot be governed by information (that cannot be told to wear masks and be an automaton).

Dancing is a spontaneous process, and he relates how his million seller Lawdy Miss Clawdy became the first step in desegregation, with mixed teens dancing in Louisiana hotspots.

Whites wanted to sing and dance like Blacks. Blacks wanted to sound like whites. All this occurred from that one song! (page 45)

The sexual and the fertile and the anarchic in nature are interrelated. Minnie Riperton (P161) is known for her explicit lyrics, and I suspect the reference to man, seed, flower in Les Fleurs has such a connotation.

That's the nature of anarchy, where seeds grow and the spirit soars. The modern order crushes both - possibly inadvertently - in the fruitless quest for logical pathways of order in a spontaneous universe of passion.

Minnie is organic and flourishing; modern songwriters (such as Diana Warren) tend to be robotically accomplished, with a lack of sexual intonation and hence spiritual meaning. The social-physical and the psyche cannot be separated where spontaneity and anarchy are given their rightful headway. That world cannot be governed by the deceitful words of acolytes and their political brethren.

Pictorial 161

 Of Dürer's 'maester engravings..

Jerome

The Knight

Melancholia

..Jerome can be taken as the intellectual/theological; the Knight as a moral rider (Der Reuter); Melancholia as representing artistic creativity.

Of the three, Jerome is ostentatiously Italian, with perfect perspective and light-effects. The Knight is far less perfect and with a definite sense of Gothic linework. The sense of disorder is manifest in Melancholia, but here Dürer has exposed the geometrical side of things almost as a separate entity (to the brooding figure and landscape).

The moral seems to be that pure order and geometry lead to the modern era of an intellect which is not so much theological as sorcerous. This is the modern illusion, where disorder is a vanishing commodity.

The theme of artistic creativity is implicitly disordered, though. How can one be creative in a universe of straight lines? This was born home by reading Lloyd Price's memoir Lawdy Miss Clawdy. The 40s and 50s in Louisiana were of course a segregated era, and he describes the local hot joints with the 'Jook' for blacks on one side and the 'Saloon' for whites on the other.

There were hazards and the odd shooting, and alongside that the opportunities opening up for young, talented black rhythm and blues songwriters, singers, players.

He describes that there was very little information apart from.the broadsheets which dealt principally in white topics. Entrepreneurial blacks such as Johnny Johnson of JET eventually opened things up and Lloyd himself became one of the most creative entrepreneurs (building middle income homes in the Bronx to this day).

The 40s and 50s he describes were, I would say, a land of poetry in an unthinking universe. The main reason is that - like Lil Abner comicstrip - the situation is the locality of differences, and not the central state that deals in similarities.

For all the negatives, the freedom of individual creativity is the positive, as Price states.

It's true we all.did not get along at times, but families don't get along a lot of times; but they are still called families.

I am so proud to be in the American Family. A tree of many colors with universal appeal. It speaks with many tongues and thank you for that!

In this book my love for America is greater than any words I can say. For I am the living proof of her greatness. (page 89)

In our modern disaster-zone of information and diktats, the commune of social-physical reality barely exists. It is vanishing; that is to say, the social-physical reality is going to be replaced by words (information).

A commune historically is not order; it grows through differences interacting haphazardly. There are controls within it, such as the well-known horse race in Siena, a medieval relic.

Reading Price's memoir, he reminded me a lot of Kanye West and the entrepreneurial visionary. Apart from.that, both are egoists but recognize that their success is largely a matter of luck - of time, place, era.

West's endeavors envisage an economy based on commune and family situation in Cody, Wyoming. Where this physical reality is established, the spiritual dimension is there in the creative outlets of the commune. The physical cannot easily be segregated from the psyche.

In terms of black culture, this situation is seen in the relation between blues, gospel and rock'nroll. In a world of natural linework where different things interact legitimately, the erotic and the spiritual are close partners.

Minnie Riperton, who came somewhat later, has a good line in this dichotomy.

LES FLEURS (Riperton, with a 'Suddenly I See' intro)

This is power and truth as well as sex and desire. Flowers inhabit the world of untidiness where lines intersect in the fertility of life. Where roots, blood, dirt, water and the power of the underworld establish rebirth.

This is essentially the lost world that pure order vanishes. Of differences that intersect. The modern experiment in tidiness tends to assume one does not need to be untidy.

This is actually the same theme as Euripides'The Bacchae (prev), where king Pentheus denies the sanctity of Dionysus, god of the vine and unthinking power (lust). Pentheus establishes pure social.ordee, but is then torn apart by the ecstatic followers of the gay god.

The basic point is that if the universe were ordered, it would be robotic, as opposed to poetic. In a world of poetry there exist hazards, but there is not the deathly nothingness of eternal sameness.

The trend us everywhere - north, south, east, west. For example, the restoration of Al Nouri in Iraq.

It's not Mosul. It looks exactly like Sharjah (UAE), said Rasha all Aqeedi. (DT)

A world of straight lines (a la Saudi's Neon City, natch) appeals to a certain type of ego - the followers of sorcerers of the mirror of illusions. The real world has social-physical reality of a haphazard nature, with psychic content (story, destiny).

Whether that world is aristocratic or republican, it essentially belongs to the psyche. Another word for that is religion. The higher-level systems upon which Man is truly dependent.

These systems are not ordered; they are comprised of social-physical differences which interact or intersect. The Duke of Edinburgh, amongst his other pursuits, was a landscaper and farmer attached to the land.

The difference with modern politicians is they are not attached to the land, to the higher-level system such as lochs, islands, stone circles. This is a quote from.the Daily Record.

Deep down it's not just deference for authority or a perverse love of subjugation, but also the prospect of illusory unity, and the illusion of being part of something bigger than yourself.

Fortunatrly, such views are not yet the norm; nevertheless, the power of the word is yet again attacking the unthinking power of nature and higher realities of psyche and religion.

Balance and symmetry are spontaneous formulations of natural systems. As HB169 says, this is not a right-wing perspective so much as a linguistic-phobi one. The sorcerous illusion we live inside gives legs to such banal spokespeople of the worldwide urban order.

Hyborian Bridge 170

"One Size Fits All" by Zappa and the Mothers of Invention is the cynical and satirical apex of hippy culture of the 70s ("blow it out your ass, motorcycle man".)

Applying it to my own proclivities of different types operating within higher-level milieux - aristocrats, peasants, knights, priests - all these bygone areas of interesting difference have been replaced by a single model of "one size fits all".

As previously noted, this is the model.of the western white man - as opposed to Japanese, Chinese, or American Indian say. The prevailing opinion is that the model is superior, but this could be based on a linguistic illusion (see DNA, prev.)

Assuming that to be so, then it is the linguists who are the true masters of the situation. What do I mean by linguistic illusion? Basically, that information lends itself to linguistic illusions. So, what is information in this context?

Any data that comes out of a geometrical system, as opposed to an organic one, such as an ecosystem or an old town quarter or a souk or an.oasis. Geometry has been.present in previous societis such as the Egyptian pyramids, but as a specialized area for an elite priesthood (a la Stonehenge).

Throughout the series I've been harping-on about induction, the solenoid and electromagnetism (C4-C6 and rehsongcycle.com which is currently in suspension).

The summary of that, though, is contained in HB56. Our view of the universe is basically seen through lenses of various types, whether it's black holes (algorithmic telescopy) or DNA (x-ray diffraction).

The problem with that is it begs the question, what is reality? As humans, we employ eyes attached to our heads, and our reality is partly physical (body, physique) and partly psyche (thoughts, brain impulses).

Thoughts are essentially electromagnetic, but they are attached to the physique, which is physical. Our physical realities are the product of balance and symmetry in an absolute framework of time.

That has to be so since, in order for morphogenesis to occur, the time-framework throughout the developing body has to be the same as the universe. Absolute time is what we see looking at the stars strewn across the heavens.

In other words, relative time does not exist in an.organic system. It may exist within a geometric system such as CERN, so what scientists are observing is geometric reality.

Since a lens is a geometric product that bends light, the data scientists are observing is purely geometric (existing outside of absolute, universal time).

In order to fathom the implications, it's necessary to go back to the Northern Renaissance and Albrecht Durer. As previously noted, while Durer incorporated Italian Renaissance geometry, his style was still romantic Gothic linework.

In some of his works, such as Melancholia, the geometry is separated from the figures and landscape. He also painted realistic nature studies such as

The Great Piece of Turf

The sense of disorder goes against the Italian Renaissance ideal, and yet there us a type of order apparent in the layout of opposing plants.

In the oppositional (ecological) reality, there is more a sense that untidiness is part of the great plan; things just happen spontaneously.

This goes against the whole idea of providing a logical.plan for events, as is seen in geometrical reality. In a geometric system, information is built-up, and the information is highly convincing (to the ego).

Any geometric illusion such as a mirror is highly convincing to the eye. Linguists are then able to convince people it is real, as opposed to geometrical.

This is essentially what happens in our scientific system, in that it is seen through types of lenses. The geometric reality is relative and linguistic.

So, by "one size fits all", I mean a type of head that is convinced by the geometric system. But information, as noted previously, produces sameness, as opposed to difference (see DNA).

In an absolute system of linework (pre Durer), things are opposed haphazardly and differences are apparent. What this implies is that an absolute system is ecological, as seen in Durer's study. Ecology is the study of how differences interact, as opposed to a geometric system of sameness.

Where differences interact, so do the lines that connect them. The metamorphosis of line contains similarities, so that one can't have sameness without difference.

Rather than one size fits all, the pre-Durer world is one where many different things contain similarities and have affinities as in an ecosystem of symbiosis and predator-prey relations with plants.

Our linguistic world is therefore a product of a geometric illusion (sun or electromagnetism) and not an absolute world of differences.

The illusory area is approaching a reality of ones and zeros (see Jirel Meets Magic), a convincing illusion of data and response, robotic as opposed to spontaneous psyche and social-physical. Police as opposed to civilian.

At the risk of having brickbats fall on my head, the vast majority of blacks are better at arts than science. The mainstream model obstructs us from saying this only because the western-model is supposedly superior and everyone can imitate it if they try.

For a start, an illusion is only superior if you are a follower of sorcerers. Secondly, trying to do something by following an educational model is different to the spontaneity of a commune.

Much that happens in strong communes is spontaneous and tribal a la song, dance, drama (Bruegel, Crumb, the Appalachian mountains).

The unthinking universe approaches an absolute world of time - and here one approaches the poetic differences of social and ecological reality, where linework is much more established. Poetry needs the unthinking side to be able to describe the psyche that is invisible. The astrological dimensions beyond human ken.

The Red Sonja artist Frank Thorne is supreme at evoking the tracery of different things in natural settings, and their similarities in the metamorphosis of line. Here, in #1 The Blood of the Unicorn, scripted by Clair Noto, Sonja establishes a rapport with the woodland beast.

Red Sonja #1 1977

The meaning or epistemology of the erotic in terms of natural power is also much more apparent in an absolute system of ornamental linework. One thinks of the gaily wrapped Geishas from the east or rustic milkmaids from the west.

It's their very difference that sustains a belief in their similarities. Since Newton, the west has entered a world of induction where information takes precedence over a universe that is unthinking and symmetrical.

Information, in that sense, produces sameness. The unthinking poetry of differences comes from an absolute world that is vanishing, one where the tracery of romantic linework holds sway over east, west, north and south.

Hyborian Bridge 169

If DNA is a linguistic illusion, how does one explain the genomic traits of families and species?

It's all very confusing, I don't deny it, probably because "they" like it to be so. In the "real" world (of action), shape and behaviour are closely tied together; that is, in the active milieu of social and physical interactions.

I happened to read that Prince Philip became allied to Kurt Hahn owing to a school he established in Salem, Germany. Forced to flee the Nazis, Hahn established first Gordonstoun, then the international colleges cited previously (see Princess Leonor of Spain).

Prince Philip went to Gordonstoun and thrived in the rough milieu of physical activities that honed skill and courage and discipline.

The point is that DNA is like the scholastic side of studies without the connection to a natural world of roughness and hardship to imbue strength and valour (here the Moray Firth and sailing).

The end result of that track is to become robots a LA Putin (despite his physical pursuits!)

The real problem.with advance is this becomes tied to words and numbers. The same applies to the determining of protein shape by algorithm (see prev on Oxford cyber-bio research). Proteins fold as a spontaneous function, and the entire process of morphogenesis is a spontaneous function.

The entire process is shape-dependent and behavioural. Families are shape-dependent (physique) and behavioural.

The fact is that we live in a highly convincing illusion of words and numbers, of which DNA is a principle component (neo-Darwinism, prev.)

Information, as previously noted, is tied to sameness. The sameness leads to distance from nature, which is the metamorphosis of line in families and species.

The differences in nature are tied by the similarities of metamorphosis. Therefore in nature Man is allied to the horse - through line. It is the similarity of differences.

DNA, because it is pure information, is thoroughly imbued by linguistic illusions (such as phenotype and memes). This is the world we live in; the world of the linguistic politician and spokesman.

If we"re talking shape and behaviour, then we're talking families and the milieux they inhabit. The milieu is simply the next stage of development to the development of a family, akin to a tribe.

The natural state of development in this sense is to have aristocratic lineages, especially of landowning gentry. In America, the rough equivalent would be ranchers.

The real point is that a milieu is nothing to do with DNA; it's to do with the shapes of things, both animate and inanimate. Obviously, this is bound to include ecology, which is the higher level of development of living things.

The strength and discipline of development of individuals occurs within such milieux. It is a world of differences and similarities of line.

That world of strength is the contrary to DNA because of the linguistic trap that accompanies information. It is a very convincing illusion (of words and numbers, or ones and zeros).

The illusion is almost as described in Jirel Meets Magic (prev), where a dual-tone note is reflected and repeated endlessly to create a discordant reality ().

That discordant illusion of endless coridors is akin to a sterile hospital (see prev on Musk). It harbours weakness, while the fecundity of nature harbours strength (Prince Philip, I read, in the four weeks he was in hospital, was trying to get out so he could die at home.)

A hospital and anything of that order such as a scientific lab, is a manifestation of pure order (sun). Once these things dominate the all-important balance and symmetry are lost.

We are led by a certain type of linguist who makes of that world a linguistic illusion. As Radin has said (prev), in tribal societies there are two main types of individuals; the introspective/neurotic shaman, and the everyday man or man and woman of action.

Neither of these are actively prevalent in modern societies. This points to their essentially illusory natures, both psychically (shaman) and physically (the man of action.)

The counteraction to the linguistic illusion, it is also true to say, are the old aristocratic families of Europe and Russia. In America, the Western ranchers and cattlemen.

I'm not really arguing this from a right-wing perspective, more from a linguistic-phobic perspective of extreme cynicism. Our fantasms are somewhat allied to Howard's sorcerous ones.

Hyborian Bridge 168

Darwin is, along with Einstein, one of the cornerstones of our illusory hall of mirrors (number, algorithm, AI or sun). A mirror has to be at once ultra-convincing and "factual" and, at the same time, illusory.

Realistic faux is nothing new in itself since this could be the story of the Renaissance art, from Raphael onwards. This is presumably what the Pre-Raphaelites were aware of, in terms of the psychic dimension and medieval relics like Prester John (see prev.)

But, how can we turn back to a time when news is hearsay and the town cryer is the standard-bearer for truth? That's for sure but, equally, why should one travel through a hall.of mirrors shining the reflections of false prophets?

All one can say is that there are voices like Kantner of JS and Poly Styrene who are clearly thinking in terms of psychic strength, the feminine and erotic (in nature) and physical romance.  Are these things necessarily as dead as the Dodo?

This is what "they" would have use believe. First of all, if you believe something to be so it is often because the words appear to make sense. As was noted in P159, DNA is a type of linguistic trap because information is tied to sameness.

In the physical (real) world, the metamorphosis of line is tied to sameness. Where there is sameness there has also to be difference in the type of species, and types of people.

As Radin has noted (see prev) the introspective neurosis of the shaman is totally different to the everyday man, or man and woman of action.

Differences in nature tend to be allied to sameness, but there is no such thing as sameness without difference.

DNA is what's called neo-Darwinism, and is the principle plank of the scientific worldview of nature. So, what I'm meaning to suggest is that terms like genotype and phenotype are totally illusory linguistic structures.

DNA is pure information, and the only thing it can definitely be said to be is ultra-convincing. There is no link between genotype and phenotype (shape), but the sheer conviction of the presence of DNA makes the linguistic connection appear true.

That's what I mean by a convincing illusion. We live in that type of world (Kafkaesque) and politicians are highly convincing and superb liars. In a universe of information and words the two are bound to go together.

I said DNA has a structure (dual or two-tone) and it is known in terms of angle of bonds and so on. Basically, that means it has a geometry. Geometry is also very convincing and part of the same universe of "fact".

The things that are missing are to do with time and shape - what things are physically. In other words, we inhabit a universe of the head as opposed to the proportionate, active body.

Differences, of species or of people, have similarities or symmetries in terms of line. A line is movement in time.

Riding a horse, say, the lines of one's body are tied to the brute. The clench of the knees on the barrel midrif, the flick of the reins, the wrench of the stirrups.

Why is Man so close to horses? Because, in an active world, different things contain similarities of line (CL Moore, Black God's Kiss). None of this has anything to do with DNA, which is information. It has to do with action and behaviour. The shape of things is closely allied to their behaviour (psyche).

Horses are smelly and fairly filthy. When one works with them.one cleans out the stables and so forth. In a traditional society one lives cleanly in a dirty milieu. The fields and fertility.

Modern advance is an experiment in tidiness, when untidiness is a sign that useful work is being done!

Those who adhere rigidly to the modern line are often linguists or politicians. They maintain a distance from the physical world of fertility.

The physical substance of the metamorphosis of line is the fecundity of nature. Zeus and the bull (The Rape of Europa, prev.)

By maintaining a distance from these powerful forces of nature (ontology), the sense of meaning (epistemology) is lost in the mist. Instead of decay and the restoration of ruins, one has the sterility of words that maintain a distance from the fertility and strength of nature.

Words and numbers attached to information are a mainstream fantasm. Shape and behaviour are reality, and this applies equally to the proteins that process our bodies and course through our bloodstream.

Blood and bone; the hunt and the chase; Diana of the moon; Dionysus on his donkey. The sad truth is that all these are extinguished by the false prophet of pure information. The one place where physical truth still holds true are the alternate worlds of heroic fantasy, be it X-Men or Howard's Hyboria.

Hyborian Bridge 167

If the modern order is sterile geometry, the Northern Renaissance master Durer was fertile metamorphosis of line. This dichotomy was previously brought-out in P145.

Distilling this down from the really abstract is the intention! Starting from abstraction, the ambition of the modern order us to live in resolved space (straight-lines represented by light - see HB115).

Within this space, problems are resolved (by AI), but it is an.illusion of geometry (perspective, or the vanishing point of technique).

What is lacking is the fecundity of nature which is a product of the metamorphosis of line (Zeus and the bull, see The Rape of Europa, prev.)

'Resolved space is always very persuasive - see CL Moore P8 - but it is psychically lacking and, in CL Moore's Judgement Night, full of reptilian psychosis. The style is monochrome, flashy and tawdry (Trumplike).' - from HB115

IT is the monotone of the two-tone universe of constant reflections (ones and zeros) that expand into nothingness (see Jirel Meets Magic, prev.)

A monochrome universe can appear multiplex simply owing to the multifaceted repeats! Nature itself is thoroughly illusory; the sea, a flat surface or endless deeps (see Francis Stevens' Claimed, prev); the floaty air and flickering flames.

Each element may contain illusions, taken together the elemental symmetries are real. In other words, symmetry is a fundamental component of reality.

So, taking this abstraction into concrete areas, it's basically saying that contradictions in society are often correct in that they can't be resolved into sterile information (of the illusory mirror).

A traditional society has priests and it has knights, both of whom would tend to contradict each other. I've previously cited the religious states of Turkey, Iran and India for their old styles of living with the symmetries of beliefs.

The strength of belief or psyche is there, and therefore there are bound to be contradictions within the society. Obviously a belief is not real in terms of artificial information, but it is still very real.

The basic point is that living artificially can seem real, but it's still a sterile illusion of the ego of acolytes (head). The product of a system of straight-lines (sun or electromagnetism).

In a fertile system, the metamorphosis of line much more apparent. This relates to style, taste and art and architecture (see any Hyborian kingdom). It's a condition of the body (as Bruce Lee has said, of moving in the moment, of pure action, the state of being within time.)

It's because a resolved state is convincing to the head of acolytes (of sorcerers) that that is the state we are approaching. It's an illusory state of the mirror of illusions that sees the geometry of things only; that is one side of reality, the side that has no spontaneous movement of line).

Iran is s study in contradictions. The Shah westernized it and even built The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art to house western modern artists. It was a pet project of Farah Pahlavi, his architecturaly-inclined wife.

TMoCA

As you can see from.the illo it's brutalist in the best tradition! The fact the Mullahs didn't pull it down does say a fair bit.

Iran is a country that is monumentally graceful and mountainous (not unlike its ancestor Turan), and more western-oriented than you might think. However, it's the contradictions that make it Iranian. The fact the fundamentalists haven't managed to iron-out these contradictions says something of the Iranian spirit of millennia.

Similar observations go for Lebanon. Fundamentalism has wreaked havoc but hasn't conquered the spirit. Gad Saad is a Jewish Lebanese exile who evokes this ancient tradition of contradictions in his podcast The Saad Truth.

You need to be able to withstand the stress of satire, of rejection, of critique. If you're unable to do so, then your ideology doesn't belong in a free society. If you want kids to be resilient against auto-immune disease, they need to be exposed to pollutants and allergens. It's because you're immune system.needs to be triggered. I think the same is true of critical thinking- this thing called your brain expects to be exposed to opposing ideas for it to develop its critical thinking properly.

It's not up to governments to resolve these things; insults and objections are good. Saad happens to be a Darwinian, but I'll forgive his ludicrous lapse for his sound humanistic, liberal sense.

A fertile society can be dirty and squalid, but it does not develop a fixation on numbers and rubbish-removal as ours do (see Grace Slick quote on compulsion HB62/1).

The straight-line order necessitates a fixation on sterility, which at the same time is a fixation on rubbish-removal. The fertile society lives with disorder and untidiness and the cycle of material because it is the natural thing to do - see HB115 link to Pompeii..

'To the Romans the Earth is the body and recycles things as the body does. There us no cerebral cleverness because it's not fitting that a house should be clever; it's just mud, wattle, mortar - nothing more.'

Resolved space contains the profane serpent of corrupt rhythms, which is simply a distortion of what is already there in the symmetries of the body (see "clean meat" and the apotheosis of DNA as opposed to clean living and sound milieux).

As Radin has said, societies contain 'types' and the modernist type is the political mind that welcomes problem-solving, never appreciating the illusory space they are inhabiting. The ego triumphant on a desert if its own devising.

Hyborian Bridge 166

Going by the previous couple of posts, a reasonable question to ask might be that the modern system might be an experiment in tidiness.

X-ray Spex

From.the fertile ground of the 16th century Renaissance, the modern path leads downhill all the way through the mirror of definitive truth.

As was noted way back in P12, the Northern Renaissance master Durer perhaps marks the split from the romantic Gothic style of the late medieval.

Durer practiced this style, but incorporated the Italian geometry. The primacy of geometry in the human figure from that time became inevitable.

Geometry is the way of entering the mirror of illusions (perspective) where things become the object of the forensic lens (HB56), and therefore true. As Godard has said, a film camera is "truth 27 times a second".

Another way of saying that is the stories of his imagination are rendered truthfully. But what happens when there is no imagination? We still get truth, but with no imaginative input. This is the current situation of social media, and it's worth quoting CC Beck.

My family talked me into seeing ET, which I think is one of the worst movies.. Cat Yronwode and others agree it's manipulative..

Groth: How would you answer the rebuttal to that, which I often encounter, and that is that all art has to bring forth or evoke an emotional reaction?

Beck: if the reaction takes place in your imagination and is provoked by the medium, fine. If you can lead a guy right up to the edge of a cliff, and then stop the story, his imagination takes over.. Conan Doyle did that with.. Sherlock Holmes. He killed him off, but if he had shown him falling over the cliff, and falling panel after panel, from all different angles, and dying and being eaten by worms and wolves and everything else, he'd have gone too far. Well that's what ET did, it left nothing to your imagination, it showed everything.(TCJ #95)

Imagination essentially means the restriction of information to that deemed appropriate (by the creative agency).

Going even further, when in.the Middle Ages belief was a fact - as was still.so with Durer and his contemporaries - hearsay counted very high in the realm of psyche. Stories of Prester John from the far east influenced the mindset of adventurous souls to keep plugging on at the conquest of the holy land (see prev.)

In other words, the medieval mindset was exactly contrary to the modern mindset. Then facts could be hearsay that launched psychic onslaughts of faith. Now, facts are definitive truths and the psyche is weak or nonexistent.

What I'm coming to saying is that these facts apply to a world of systematic tidiness, rather than to one of fertility and decay. The former world is convincing to the ego of acolytes of the straight-lines of number and algorithm, while the latter is fairly offensive, dirty and smelly.

The universe is untidy (fecund) if you believe the stars are strewn across the heavens haphazardly, as befits the realm of Fortune. Unthinking untidiness is therefore the province of absolute Time.

Time is master (Chronos, original Titan and father of Zeus). Within the mirror of illusions the definitive truths have got to be relative. Within a mirror everything is relative to light (see induction from Newton's knives, C4-C6).

Light is the means we determine the accurate existence of things like DNA (x-ray diffraction, prev.) so that information becomes the fundamental component of reality.

In an absolute universe, time is the master because the flow of lines in the moment determine the tensile stress of molecules (proteins) and ultimate symmetrical shape of developing organisms.

Symmetry is outwith a universe of information; as has been previously noted, the sacred symmetries in countries such as Iran and Turkey are a source of psychic strength.

I noticed that American belief in terms of church attendance is at an all-time low; a type of weakness. Sacred symmetries simplify living which otherwise is pure fact (news). Instead of the psyche informing news events - as in the Middle Ages and "hearsay" - words that deal in facts and number are "the truth".

However, it is a truth without the sacred reality of symmetry. To be a bit more pedestrian, Kanye West's development in Wyoming has a spiritual temple as a concomitant part of the physical act of cotton-picking.

This seems almost like turning the clock back, and I think that's true. Symmetries are accidental events that happen within settings that occupy milieux where different things are interacting, as in an ecosystem.

Belief and acts of faith celebrate these accidents of Fortune. The temple is the heart of such communes. The religious affiliations of American blacks in the 50s was a concomitant part of being within milieux that developed accidentally.

It's true that places could become ghetto-ised, but it's still true to say that differences - the structure of a family, the priest and their congregation, artisan shops and buskers, animals - are interacting.

Today, the bane of sameness dissolves differences - and hence the affinity of difference (see P159). Biden's trillion dollar infrastructure expansion is simply going to emphasize sameness at the expense of milieux where differences coexist (see Ghostworld). Politics is simply the egotistical high ground of the reality that exists within the mirror of illusions.

The ego of a politician is inexorably attracted to the convincing illusions that lack symmetry and time! This is so from Russia to Scotland. The odd news-item catches the eye. In Edinburgh a street brawl between a man and an apparently high woman resulted in her kissing him and then biting through his tongue. When he spat it out, a seagull swooped.

That type of savagery is fairly rare, but s neat example of social untidiness. The seagull establishes the ecological morality of blood, while the chivalry of the man prevents him responding.

Scottish pitch invasion 1977

In a traditional milieu, acts of deadly intent are possible within a moral framework that is neatly contained in Lloyd Price's classic

STAGGER LEE

Differences, symmetries and time are the pre-modern realities of absolute existence, and the fundamental components of fantasy storytelling. So, there we finally get back to Hyborian times. The primitive activities of blood and bone (Ymir) as the Earth spins twixt sun and moon eternally.
